Sat., May 31: Join Utopia Tours for a tour to the northwestern coastline. We travel from Minnesota, through North Dakota, to Miles City, MT. We look forward to the exciting next few days as we anticipate the beauty of the Seattle and Vancouver area, as well as the excitement of the Portland Rose Festival.

Sun., June 1: This morning we continue across Montana and into Idaho. Our overnight is in Wallace, ID, a silver mine town.

Mon., June 2: We will enjoy some of the natural beauty of Lake Coeur dAlene, one of the five most beautiful lakes in the World. Crossing the border to Washington, we will soon be in Spokane, WA. Continuing on, we find ourselves in the midst of the beautiful Cascade Mountain Range of Washington. We travel to the Bavarian Alpine village of Leavenworth, WA. We will enjoy spending the night in this village. The Leavenworth area got its first homesteaders in 1885 when a handful of people settled in the Icicle Flats. The settlement was called Icicle. It became incorporated as Leavenworth in 1906, then in 1964 was developed into a Bavarian theme town.

Tues., June 3: We cross over the Cascade Mountain Range and journey along the Skykomish River to Seattle, WA. We arrive around noon and spend some time at the Seattle Waterfront for lunch and shopping. Plus enjoy a stop at Pike Place Market. Later you may wish to visit the Space Needle, the site of the Seattle Worlds Fair that towers 605 feet above the city. You will be amazed with the beautiful views of Puget Sound, the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, and possibly Mount Rainier from the Needle. Our lodging for tonight is near the Space Needle.

Wed., June 4: A local tour guide will join us today to sightsee around the beautiful city of Seattle, known as the "Emerald City." Later, ferries will take us to Vancouver Island and Victoria, BC. We will spend two nights here in Victoria, British Columbias charming capital city.

Thurs., June 5: This morning a local guide will join us for a city tour of Victoria while we explore the area, which began as an outpost for Hudson Bay Co., in 1843. We will view the Parliament Buildings, Christ Church Cathedral, Inner Harbor, and other historical sights. Later we will go to Butchart Gardens. The gardens feature different styles of landscapes, masterfully displayed with thousands of flowers in various gardens settings. Stroll along pathways through their wonderfully landscaped gardens. As we return to the city you will have time to visit the Empress Hotel, museums, and the many shops and restaurants along the Inner Harbor. We spend our second night here in Victoria.

Fri., June 6: Later, our ferry will take us to Port Angeles, WA. From here we continue to Portland, OR, where we will check into our lodging for a two-night stay.

Sat., June 7: The Portland Rose Festival celebrated 100 years in 2007. A special treat is in store for you this morning as we view the floats prior to the parade. Our seats are inside the arena and the Grand Floral Parade with the theme "Romancing the Rose" will pass through the arena. This year promises to be a remarkable parade with awe-inspiring all-floral floats, marching bands, performances, and more. Rain or shine well enjoy the parade. This afternoon well view the International Rose Gardens. The four and a half acres with 400 varieties of roses growing on three terraces is also one of the largest in the country.

Sun., June 8: Departing Portland we drive along one of the worlds most scenic highways which parallels the Columbia River. This morning we will stop at Multnomah Falls and Bridge of the God, and travel by Bonneville Dam, the Cascade Locks. Lunch today is included at the beautiful Columbia Gorge Hotel. After lunch we board an authentic triple-deck paddle wheeler for a narrated cruise along the Columbia River. While cruising enjoy a unique viewing of the Columbia Gorge as well as hear the history of the area, including the expedition of Lewis & Clark. We will also visit the Hood River Valley, which is a 14,000 acre wonderland of orchards. Our overnight is in Pendleton, OR.

Mon., June 9: We continue our way back to the midwest, staying in Butte, MT, area for the night.

Tues., June 10: While traveling across Montana to Medora, ND, we look forward to the evening activities. Tonight we experience the famous Pitchfork Fondue. With the sunset as a backdrop, we enjoy a unique western meal served on the scenic Tjaden Terrace. This evening we will sit under the stars of a North Dakota sky, as we watch the Medora Musical. The Musical features new songs, new talent, and a new story each year. Filled with singing, dancing, and laughter, the show is also a patriotic salute to Theodore Roosevelt, depicting his time in Medora and reenacting his dramatic charge up San Juan Hill. You soon discover why 2 million visitors from all 50 states and several European countries have made the annual trip to Medora.

Wed., June 11: Homeward bound we make the usual stops for your comfort, arriving home early evening. Thank you for traveling with Utopia Tours on our Portland Rose Festival Tour!
